Keep Left: 30 Second Read

On an unlaned road, where there is only one vehicle travelling in one direction, it is important to keep as left as practicable to the kerb. This allows for vehicles to pass on the right side of your vehicle if they need. It does mean that a driver does not need to focus as intently on the left side of the vehicle for a passing car. It also means that a vehicle is less likely to use the left part of the road to push you into oncoming traffic.

Keeping as practical left also means that returning to the kerb to park, U-Turn, Three Point Turn or leaving the road into a side road does not become an impossible task. Being predictable on the road and expecting that of others means that we can all share the roads for safe use.
